"The dream, would be for those factories one day to become their own form of economic stimulus in times of emergency, helping their countries climb out of crisis through the very act of producing their own aid." Navyn Salem- Executive Director

Why the PlumpyField Network?

Because nearly 195 million children around the world suffer from malnutrition. Nutriset launched an innovative initiative to contribute to nutritional autonomy.

NUTRITIONAL AUTONOMY

The ability of a state, community or an individual to identify and procure, via sustainable systems, the nutrients needed by young children or other population groups at-risk for malnutrition.

The core of the network focuses on common values:

Sharing know-how, technology, and research initiatives
Mutual assistance through continuous dialogue between the members of the network
Sustainability by following the principles of sustainable development and the careful monitoring of financial stability
Quality and compliance with international standards

Functioning as a network:

Enables members to react more rapidly to nutritional emergencies
Facilitates work on chronic malnutrition in non-emergency periods
Boosts local economies, including activities associated with the production of raw materials
Favors the inclusion of ready-to-use food products in national food strategies

The Dynamic Women Entrepreneurs of PlumpyField - June 2011

Meet the dynamic women entrepreneurs of the PlumpyField Network.

The Network boasts seven leading women. All have varied histories, skills and expertise. Together they make the Network a rich and vibrant community of researchers, entrepreneurs and advocates. Most are mothers and all are now factory managers as well. From Niger to Ethiopia to the USA - you can read their interviews here

The PlumpyField Network is an international network of independent producers of Ready-to-Use Foods (RUFs), like Plumpy’Nut®, used in the treatment and prevention of malnutrition. The network includes 13 partners in countries around the globe including Niger, Ethiopia, and India.

Member partners work tirelessly to boost production of innovative and targeted nutritional products right in countries where they are most needed. In 2010 and 2011, the network is strengthened with the addition of new members in Tanzania, Haiti, Uganda, and Sudan.

As a global leader in the development and production of targeted nutritional products, including Plumpy’Nut and a whole range of Plumpy-type products, the PlumpyField Network includes 13 local entrepreneurs in the food manufacturing sector represented on all continents.
